The doctor with time for YOU!
Dr Etti Barsky
GP & Sports Physician
About me
I qualified from WITS Medical School in 1999.
After finishing my internship and community service, I spent time as a medical officer in the medical subspecialites at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.
After the birth of my second son, I became the GP for the Selwyn Segal Centre for the physically and intellectually handicapped for 15 years.
At the same time, I was a partner and the Medical & Training Director for Preggi Bellies South Africa. This was a specialised exercise program for pregnant and post-natal women. For over a decade my passion lay in training and guiding new moms and moms-to-be in staying fitter and stronger. It also led to a Master’s in Sports Medicine in 2012, which makes me both a GP & Sports Physician.
My interest has now evolved to aiming to inspire and motivate lifestyle changes for all my patients and trying to teach them that Exercise IS medicine.
I enjoy all aspects of family medicine, no matter the age of my patients and, occasionally explore alternative forms of healing through integrative/functional medicine.
